My wife and I just bought a used 2012 Town & Country. It has Sirius XM built in, and we were able to enjoy some of the 2-week free trial they had last month. We're interested in activating a subscription, but I'm told by friends that Sirius is like an island market -- you can haggle on pricing. Does anyone have experience with Sirius, specifically activating a subscription for a new(er) vehicle? I like the idea of the annual pass (which also included internet radio) -- I just don't like the idea of $199. Quote from 1337tard: It's just an idea, but if you have a smartphone with a decent data plan and an auxilary port in your car, you can always use pandora radio. It's free besides advertisements which you can pay $36 a year to get rid of. There rarely is an advertisement, maybe one every 5 songs. You can also look up your favorite artists and find similar songs to them if your in the mood for a certain genre. Remote needs new. ACTIVATED Xact XTR3 SIRIUS Radio RECEIVER ONLY 87.7 pre FCC strong fm a DEAL. Don't ever activate SiriusXM. The receiver in the house has only a few hours of use on it, and we do not travel as much as we used to (wife is recently retired). Mar 21, 2012 - 2 min - Uploaded by miniof concordI am showing you all how to activate your free year with a new purchase of a MINI Cooper. If your A/V receiver or audio system is Sirius- or XM-ready, this means that it is capable of giving you a seamless. How do I activate a SiriusXM trial in a vehicle? I personally never turned on sirius after the first day of a trial, i always use pandora. Thanks for the idea. It does have an aux port, but I'd be concerned about data use on my phone doing something like that (I don't have unlimited data). I've been reading on some sites that you can just called Sirius and ask for a deal and they usually have one to offer. I might try that. In the meantime, if anyone else has any suggestions, I'm all ears! $199 is just the base price.you have to add in the taxes and music royalty fees! I have 2 Sirius radios (my wife pays those and never remembers to cancel). I have XM in my car and have never paid full price. I'm usually honest with them - I have 3 cars and 2 portable radios with Sirius. Why would I pay for XM in one of the cars when I can just move the radio? Yes, it's a slight hassle to deal with adapters and cables, but not enough to pay full price for a year when I only drive the car half the time. They usually offer me either a 3 month deal or something around 1/2 price for the entire year. I think my last year came out to $100-110 - right around $8-9 per month. Since I already have the radio, I think the service is worth $8-9 per month. Their prices have only gone up - I guess it was $12 per month with free on-line streaming, now it is $14.50 with no on-line (extra $3.50) and now that it is Sirius and XM, they have different packages with different programming. The XM package actually has several commercial radio stations.and I believe all of the talk radio stations have commercials. I thought the whole point of paying for radio was to avoid the commercials? And don't even get me started on the annoying DJ part.yet I still pay for the service, so I guess I'm the sucker! But you are basically correct - just call and ask for a deal. Tell them you caught the end of the free trial and the service is nice, but not sure that it's worth $200 per year. I am on what they are calling promotional rate: 6 months for $25 (ends up being 27.44 after taxes). I got this rate by letting the paid subscription expire. Within one month, there is at least one email a week asking me to 'come back' and sign up at that rate. The catch is that I have to call before the end of the 6 month period and CANCEL. They will not, most likely, be able to renew at that rate again and instead offer something else but I stand my ground and cancel. Yes, I end up being w/o radio for few weeks but the emails with the promotional offer (6 for $25) will come. It has worked for me twice already and I plan on doing exactly the same thing come February.
